Artist Ray King took his cues from Downtown Tampa’s mix of historic features and futuristic aesthetics to create the art installation at the new Aurora apartments. Glass discs of varying sizes are arranged in rainbow order to mimic the appearance of modern data networks.

The magic of the installation lies in its shadows, which change drastically in length and intensities as the sun moves throughout the day. Astronomers first tracked the paths of the sun and shadows thousands of years ago. Influenced by their discoveries, King has created art that is fluid and dynamic — just like the city itself.
