The latest art addition to the Doyle-Carlton Drive section of the Riverwalk was directly inspired by the Riverwalk itself.
“Andante” is a 200-foot work of painted glass by Maryland-based artist Heidi Lippman that incorporates the I-275 overpass columns in a kinetic swirl of light and shape.
“There’s a fragility and tenuousness that you feel when walking along that water,” Lipmann said. “Surrounded by banks of massive columns, you’re more aware of your individual mortality. That’s reflected in the delicacy of the lines.”
“Andante” means “a pedestrian pace” in music; watch it shimmer and shine with the changing sunlight, seasons and scenery.
