Furniture gets a second life in the heart of the Channel District.

In one of the last original buildings in the Channel District, Maven Designs is making its mark as downtown’s home for vintage furniture and décor. Most of the store’s pieces come from properties that Maven, also a construction and real estate development firm, acquires.

Owner Eby Paul and his team repaint and restore each piece by hand before putting it up for sale. Maven also refurbishes already owned furniture, something downtown residents have quickly caught on to – Paul says his team is backed up with requests for repainting, and Maven’s warehouse full of pieces waiting for their turn confirms that statement.

Maven Designs is located within a block of five apartment buildings, so Paul says purchasing the building just before Jeff Vinik began purchasing property in the area was strategic.

“I saw potential in this area,” Paul says. “With so many residences here, the need for furniture is always going to be there.”

Plus, he shares the wish of many of his fellow downtown residents.

“I wanted to be able to walk to work,” Paul says with a laugh.

Maven Designs is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
